1. About the Course
Q1. Can beginners take lessons?
Yes, of course! Even if you want to start from hiragana and katakana, you’re welcome.
We often hear people say, “I’ll learn the Japanese syllabary (kana) first, then take lessons.” But studying the kana alone can take too much time—and honestly, it can feel boring.
With ONER, you can start from the very beginning together with us. Our teachers have the skills to make learning enjoyable and effective.
If you’re wondering, “Really?”, don’t hesitate—try a trial lesson!
Q2. Do you use textbooks?
There are no fixed textbooks. We sometimes use published books, free online materials, or even create original materials together with you.Lessons are always tailored to your interests, goals, and current situation. That’s why every lesson is “just right for you.”
Q3. Do you offer group lessons?
Currently, our focus is on one-on-one lessons, so we can give each learner our full attention.
However, if you would like to study with a small group of friends, we can arrange that flexibly. Please feel free to consult with us.
Q4. Can you help me prepare for the JLPT?
Yes, absolutely! We support you with practice questions, vocabulary and grammar reinforcement, and mock exams, all tailored to your timeline and current level.
Q5. Will my teacher change every time?
As a rule, you’ll have the same teacher each time. This way, conversations build up naturally week after week, and learning becomes more natural. You’ll find yourself speaking simply because you want to talk.
Q6. Can I keep learning even if I’m busy?
Yes. We can adjust the pace and style of lessons to fit your life or work schedule.
Some learners have continued for over 10 years since ONER was founded! One of our strengths is making it easy to keep going “little by little, for the long term.”
Q7. What makes ONER different from other schools?
At ONER, we value experiencing Japanese, not just studying it.The goal isn’t only to speak correctly—it’s to express yourself in your own words.Lessons have no fixed textbooks and are flexibly tailored to your “now.”Because you work with the same teacher, real conversations naturally grow out of human relationships.
Q8. What should I do if I want to take lessons twice a week?
At ONER, we offer a “4-lessons-per-month plan” for each day of the week.If you would like to take lessons twice a week, you can do so by purchasing two different 4-lessons-per-month plans on different days.
Example:
• Tuesday (4 lessons per month) + Thursday (4 lessons per month) = 2 lessons per week
This way, you can continue learning with the same teacher on the same days each week, helping you keep a steady rhythm.
Taking lessons twice a week is highly recommended—it allows you to review before you forget, and helps expressions become more natural.
