Many foreigners who come to Japan have learned Japanese. We've seen this countless times: after finally speaking to someone in Japanese, they're immediately responded in English.

There are actually a lot of learners who have this kind of mentality.
Kamakura is a tourist destination visited by people from all over the world.
A small word on a certain day and in a certain place can often start a relationship of mutual understanding.
If tourists and locals can greet each other naturally in their daily lives, this communication can also be extended to "mutual assistance" during disasters and "mutual support" in life.
This course aims to support everyone in taking the first step in their daily life through "やさしい日本語".
What is "やさしい日本语"?
"やさしい日本語" is a form of Japanese that anyone can use immediately by slightly changing difficult words or honorifics. It's not a special skill.
The concept was first proposed by researchers at Hirosaki University after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995. Since then, it has gained increasing attention not only in disaster relief but also in various fields such as tourism, medical care, and hospitality.
Make the fun of language more free
In my own journey of learning English and Chinese, I have deeply experienced the joy of connecting with people across language barriers.
In the process of going back and forth between the three languages, I also discovered the fun and uniqueness of Japanese.
In this class, I hope to enjoy this "language experience that only I can bring" with everyone and find the first step in communication.

What’s special is that starting from the second lesson, we plan to invite guests from Taiwan to actually use “やさしい日本語” for conversation! This will be a great opportunity to put what you have learned into practice right away.

The focus isn't on "tourists" or "foreigners," but on facing the "person" in front of you. I believe that a gentle word can create a caring city.
